Roti Bank Hyderabad was started in Aug 2020 when the pandemic was rampant, inspired by Roti Bank Mumbai which was started by D. Sivanandhan IPS (retired former Commissioner of Police Mumbai and Director General Police Maharashtra).

Roti Bank Hyderabad, run by Aruna Bahuguna IPS (retired former Director General Police) is a non profit food rescue organization that bridges the gap between the less fortunate hungry and the fortunate, aiming to eliminate hunger and malnutrition.

The functioning of the NGO is simple. Freshly cooked hot meals consisting of rice, dhal, vegetables and a fruit, packed in individual packets are distributed through a van to the needy within the limits of Greater Hyderabad. Every day the meals are distributed in a different area so as to cover wider areas and sections of the population. Construction workers, Covid-19 patients, Covid-19 attendants, children and other needy persons are the recipients.

It is now proposed to spread our wings and by procuring a second van and widening our reach.
